In-House Eye Care: Residents no longer have to leave the facility in order to obtain eye care. Optometrists from Doctors Vision Center come into our facility to provide on-site comprehensive eye care using state of the art equipment. Doctors Vision Center handles all prescription fitting and dispensing functions, ensuring resident satisfaction with quality prescription eyewear. Respite Care: For care givers needing a break, Berry Hill offers respite care (temporary care). Respite care can be used for as little as three days or as long as a month. We work with you to design a respite stay that fits your needs. Respite care offers your loved one a safe environment as well as a place to socialize and make new friends. Nurses are available 24 hours a day. Physical Therapy (PT): Rehabilitation specialists work closely with an individual to help restore their functional abilities. Some treatments may include flexibility and strengthening exercises as well as gait training, balance activities, safety with transfers, and pain management techniques. Physical Therapists (PT's) are highly specialized healthcare professionals that are able to assess the individual's deficits and develop treatment programs accordingly. Treatments include: Neurological Rehabilitation, Orthopedic Rehabilitation, Wheelchair Mobility/Management, Gait Training (Ambulation), Bed Mobility/Transfers, Residential Mobility (Home), Pain Reduction/Management and Patient/Family Education. Occupation Therapy (OT): Rehabilitation specialists assist individuals in regaining the ability to perform activities of daily living (ADL's). The goal is to assist the individual to regain these abilities while encouraging independence. These abilities are often regained using splints and adaptive therapy. Treatments include: Neurological Rehabilitation, Visual Perception Skills, Coordination, Postural Control, Cognitive Rehabilitation, Orthopedic Rehabilitation, ADL Retraining (Self Care), Community Re-entry, Wheelchair Positioning, Energy Conservation, Functional Mobility/Transfers, Dysphagia, Sensory Reintegration, Splinting, Patient/Family Education. Speech Therapy (ST): Our licensed therapist assists individuals in learning to master new communication skills and to handle chewing and swallowing difficulties. Many individuals learn skills to assist with memory loss. Therapist works with individuals in the following areas: Dysphagia, Comprehension, Expression, Pragmatics/Social Interaction, Memory, Problem Solving, Cognitive - Linguistics, Attention, Verbal Problem Solving, Safety Awareness, Insight to Deficits and Patient/Family Education. Meals/Housekeeping: All meals are home-cooked with quality ingredients and served hot and delicious with individual tastes considered. Residents may enjoy their meals and friendly conversation in our large, open dining room filled with sunlight. Three home cooked meals are served daily along with afternoon and evening refreshments. Our Housekeeping Department provides a clean, comfortable, safe, odor-free environment. Personal Laundry services are also provided. Beauty/ Barber Shop: The beauty and barber shop is operated by a licensed beautician. Hair services are provided to women and men alike. Appointments can be made at the facility office. For Medicaid residents, any service other than a monthly hair cut must be paid by the family. Recreational Programs: Daily activities are coordinated by Activity Professionals to enhance the daily lives of our residents. Activity programs are designed to provide physical and mental stimulation as well as promote interaction. We have a variety of on-site and off-site activities with the opportunity to meet and make new friends. Music and other entertainment, including parties and socials, are available for our residents. Individual one-on-one activities are provided for residents who are unable to participate in a group environment.. Social Services Department: The Social Services Department offers on-site family and resident counseling and the opportunity to discuss and develop solutions as personal needs arise. The Social Worker acts as a liaison within Berry Hill for residents, families, and staff. They facilitate the quality initiative in practice and meetings and conduct monthly Resident Council Meetings. The Social Worker also handles discharge planning and coordination of home care when residents return home.
